I just got
Valley of the Dolls from
Netflix the other day and am in love. My cousin lent me
the book years ago and it's been one of my favorite books ever since. I've been wanting to see the movie for awhile and finally got around to it. It's full of glamor and drama and camp - just like the book. I think it's only flaw was that it kinda fell short in terms of character development but I'm guessing that's because it'd be nearly impossible to get everything from the book into the movie. But overall, it's pretty damn gorgeous and the soundtrack is great.
P.S. I have seven codes for a free month of Netflix - three expire at the end of this month, and four at the end of October - if you want one, comment with yr email address.
P.P.S. Do you want to be Netflix friends?
Friend me.
Last night
C,
Amber, & her boyfriend
Nick all went to go see
Across the Universe. I honestly didn't have very high hopes for it and I think that allowed me to like it more than I would have otherwise. It's a very pretty movie. I remember telling Colin about halfway through, "This is really lame but every time someone breaks into a Beatles song, I fall in love with it all over again," and that is pretty much the epitome of how I feel about it. I was kind of cringing throughout most of the first half of it and then it got a little more interesting. There was a lot of historical fictitious tie-ins (like with the SDS and Weathermen) and fun Beatles references (Sexy Sadie, Prudence, Eddie Izzard as Mr. Kite) but I was really annoyed with the love story between Evan Rachel Wood & (the too-pretty) Jim Sturgess, or at least, with their individual characters (especially Wood's - very naive and I'm not sure if it was intentional or not). All in all, I'm not in love with it, but it still made me happy and I'm glad I saw it.
