Whew! Thanks! I'm glad that this interpretation of the episode worked for you. I was worried about that. And I'm happy you liked paternal!Lestrade here.

(The way I see it, Mycroft cares about two things: Sherlock and his country. But, when it comes down to it, the country comes first. And if Victor is not only on Sherlock's level, but also able to help out with whatever meddling Mycroft's doing in some foreign country? Yeah, Mycroft's going to ship that boy off quick as he can.)

(Also, saw on the rant meme that you injured yourself. I do hope you're feeling better and that you're on the way to recovery!)

(No, I definitely can't see forgiveness coming. Especially not after Mycroft reveals everything about Sherlock's life to Moriarty. I can't say I feel too bad for the man, but that's just my personal bias.)

(Good to hear you're not in much pain! I'll try to send Wise Child thoughts your way. ;-) And goodness, that old story! Talk about a blast from the past. Well, I'm glad you were able to help them out!)

Good fucking god! Where are these angstfests coming from? That was brilliant and beautiful and so, so painful. What an interesting interpretation of S2. Just wonderful. Thanks for posting it!

First off, thank you so much for sticking with me for these very angsty stories and for taking the time to comment on them. I'm so happy to hear that this interpretation of the second series works for you.

Where are these angstfests coming from?

Angstfests occur when Imp is stressed out :) Usually Lestrade is the one who falls victim to my angsty whims (it's no coincidence that "Fighter" and "Retribution" were both written around times that I was moving) but apparently when you stick me in a plane for nine hours suspended above the ocean, this happens instead.

Thank you for bearing with me! The upcoming stuff I have, while angsty in parts, won't end on such a sad note :)

Um, all this crying is not doing my allergies/cold any good, you know...

But this- it is a beautifully broken story. And Lestrade is wonderful in helping his surrogate son, being supportive in the only way he can, by giving him truth instead of platitudes.

And it gives a whole new take to the antagonism between Mycroft and Sherlock as well as the "Tell him I'm sorry, would you?" scene.

Ok off to get the tissues and dry up.

I'm sorry to have aggravated your allergies/cold!

But thank you for reading this and then taking the time to comment. I'm happy that this angle on the Sherlock/Mycroft relationship worked for you.

Oh it is all good- I was due for a good cry anyway, vey cathartic.

And yes, I must say that sending my spouse far away from me would certainly make me decidedly unhappy with my older siblings.

As the youngest sibling by nine and seven years I can understand Sherlock's POV!!
