I've gradually come - with the help of stories like this - to appreciate Lestrade's character more and more. The subtle complexities, his mild forcefulness, his general status as all-around Good Guy... I think you've done a fantastic job portraying all of those traits and more. His actions speak so loudly, simple though they may be, and he truly understands people - how they work, what they need, what he can to do help them - and he never fails to make the most of that understanding.
I actually think it's sort of funny that I have this mental character profile on him, given that we have so little to work with from the shows, but I really feel that authors here have picked up on the little details - the small gestures and quirks, the simple actions - and been able to go so much deeper. And that is what you've done here.
