Well.
Vacation was... interesting. I wasn't afforded as much time for writing as I was hoping for, and I seem to have come to a great white wall of writer's block whenever I attempt to write this next chapter.
It was brought to my attention that perhaps LotS is a bit boring in parts. This actually didn't bother me all that much, since it's really supposed to be laid-back at this point. It's set in a small rural town where there isn't much fast-paced action, so the pacing of the story isn't going to be all that quick, either- at least for now.
At the risk of foreshadowing, the action is going to pick up a bit as we learn more about the characters. I don't know if there's a real technical writing term for it, but I like to call it the Car Crash. I mentioned it in passing in The Darkest Reflection, but it's when the pace and tension build gradually until they're spinning out of control, and then climax in an unavoidable collusion of events.
For now, however, I'm having trouble getting this next part going. I've got this "boring" thing in my head, and now I can't seem to write anything interesting. Vexing, isn't it? Anyways, I'm introducing another couple of characters, and I'm particularly pleased with the way I've decided to write one of them, so maybe that will get my creative juices (or whatever) flowing again.
Growl.
