Waaaaahhhh, do not remind me about the end of the RP!T_T In many ways, it didn't even end, because playing did not get to the end of it. It 'ended' with chaos after the Brazilian Ambassador was shot by Hilling. There really was no conclusion, and I tend to wonder what was supposed to happen.
The one thing that I liked about the movie was that I was right in my understanding of what was said at AX. Mizushima said that the main characters were going to battle extraterrestrials! It means that the interpreter was right all along and that the Asian reporters did not word their transcripts correctly. It was as Mizushima said.
What I didn't like, when I watched the movie at NYAF were the loudmouths (male, as expected) beside me when I was placed on the back platform of the room because I asked the staff if I could sit at the back, since I did not want to obstruct anyone's view (because of my 10" spikes). People were protesting that I was on the platform when staff would not let them. The gentleman from staff offered me that view as a way of ensuring that I do not obstruct anyone's view of the movie but still get a good view of it. Some of those who sat by me were loudmouthing in the end (after the Setsuna/Marina hug) about how it sucked without gundams, etc. I was already seething, because they should not have watched the movie if they were going to react like that. There were others who could not make it inside and yet, would have enjoyed it. The Allelujah cosplayer in the post-movie photoshoot was not able to watch it.
What I'm amused about, though, is how Kimber was so accurate in writing Billy's reaction to Anew in the RP (the way Billy reacted to Mina's legs)^^
My favorite 'ending' for the movie was that artwork of old Sumeragi and Lyle at the bar (the one posted in the community). Their conversation really made me laugh because Revive kept referring to Lyle as a 'dirty old man' in the RP. In that piece, it looked like Lyle really became a dirty old man!^^
The Brazillian ambassador was supposed to be shot by Hilling, that was my plan since before we started that thread. I was just giving everyone some time to socialize and try to pry information out of each other before I set that off. It was the next clue I was giving CB, to make them aware of the religious cult Regene had created, circulating around Veda, as that would give them another train to investigate, and one where they might more easily find something, too. It's hard to do research on an innovator; a person who doesn't officially exist. But had they gone to Brazil, there'd have been plenty of dirt to dig up. And perhaps leverage against the innovators. The grande finale was supposed to be the project Devine was working on, up on space. They were modifying that long range blast gun seen in the show so that it could be used fiting missiles containing the virus simultaneously into every major city in the world. That's what would have eventually happened, had CB not been able to stop the innovators. All the other attacks were just test runs, to determine how fast the virus would spread and what actions humans might take to try to isolate it. So the fascist police in Tokyo was actually doing a pretty damn good job, callous though it was, letting so many people die.
I've figured for some time that there were probably going to be aliens on Jupiter, but I wasn't sure that they would appear in so evident a form, or that they would necessarily end up being a threat.
I thought you meant the fandom reactions online. Though there were a few complaints, most of them weren't so bad, I think. there are things that could've been done differently, sure, but they avoided most of the worst pit falls too, actually. The things we feared would happen.
Lyle was a dirty young man before, it's only natural that he would get old eventually. ;P
