here sat the man so proud
ever the hero to the crowd
for all his gold and all his fame
only one could point out the blame
she looked young and fair of face
her gowns of rags instead of lace
she held her babe close at hand
this one could rule and take his land
his promised the moon, he promised a star
he never knew she would come this far
all he could do is wail and weep
he crumbled to the floor at the faerie's feet
she gave him a smile, she gave him a kiss
he tried to speek but the words he missed
you should never try and fool the fae
a smarter man would have run away
heed this tale and keep it dear
anger the fae and your end is near
if you want to roll the dice
you better be able to pay the price
