resurrection, lj style

Mar 27, 2009 14:00

after all, it's spring and my last post was last summer, and "now" feels promising. i've been inspired by your journals, to nurture a little writing revival of my own and renew the connections with each of my friends here. as a transformative gesture, i've made my former entries private (that and i'm just awkward about them), but didn't delete them because i loved your comments.

let's see, since i last posted, my partner in bewitching, eric, and i have been putting the focus on developing our live act. consequently, we have 15 or so songs we've been playing live for awhile, but haven't recorded yet (except for a few bootlegs floating about among friends).

needless to say, we're both pumped about getting new studio tracks out this year and have already recorded and released (digital only) the first one, "wintertime."our friends at sepiachord recently featured it as the song of the day! check out their site, it's a great place to discover new music and the "sepia" movement/genre.

the "plan" is to just digitally release stuff, until/unless we have the resources and interest in a physical release. we don't have too many copies of our self-released ep left, and while i think it's still fairly representative, there's been so much music created and so many influences explored since then.

we have two local shows upcoming at the moment, one on april 4th, opening for jason webley (major woot!) and our next self-produced show (because we both have this long-standing affinity for creating shows) on may 24th. a few more local guest spots are in the works too. no plans to take the show on the road at this point, it's just not feasible or realistic yet, but venturing out and meeting some of our far-flung listener/friends is certainly a goal. so when an appropriate opportunity clicks, we'll leap! hit us up with crazy ideas we should entertain and people we should connect/collaborate/hook up with.

backstage at ground zero (december 2008)

feathers free themselves from birds
taking the shape of humans
shaking and shedding all pretense of clothing
they make-up, on a backdrop of forgiving black
bare youth is painted in. arms of strangers,
legs of friends coalesce and blend
mascara, one more feather for
forgetting. only glitter will be contemplated
now. sweating instigated for the bow.
and on cue, there is no regal rising
only frantic rustling to the wings
the smoothing of seams, the tireless,
breathless unfolding of dreams
