So I've had my little business making baby carriers for almost a year now. I've been on a bit of a break since switching jobs in December, and then tax season hitting. So far, I haven't been wildly successful. But, that is at least in part because I haven't really promoted it. I'm so strapped for time, that I know I can't fill a lot of orders, and I'm deathly afraid of getting in over my head. So I've just sort of wandered along, and promoted a touch here and there, and for the most part, just about broke even. I've been cooking up some ideas though here and there, and waiting for tax season to end so that I could devote some time to it all.

Now, in a little over a week, work is going to begin in earnest. My good friend Amanda and I are partnering up, and we're in it to really make something come of it now. We sat down today and went through a bunch of things. Pricing, supplies, patterns, colors, etc. We're actually not going the baby carrier route, though we'll offer those from time to time as well, in coordination with our other products. We set out a specific number of products to make for our first run, and ordered the supplies to do it. We're starting production a week from tomorrow, assuming everything is here in time.

I'm pretty excited to have a partner in this, and I think we have a good shot of doing well. The long term goal is, of course, to build a business that is sustainable and that actually brings in enough money to really help out our families. It's doubtful that I'll ever be able to quit my job entirely, but if we do well, I might be able to cut down to part time at some point in the future, which would be awesome. Here's to hoping!
