ok i've been holding this in wayyy too long.
theres this group that I accidently found and they are called: The Vitamin String Quartet
if you have no appreciation for classical music whatsoever then please feel free to close the window of my LJ. if you are not narrow minded when it comes to music then please feel free to read on. So I dont know how many of my friends have heard of this group but they do covers for EVERYONE using only strings. (violin, cello..etc.) they are damn good. they do stuff from every genre you can think of. They also don't just do one song from an artist they will go out and play an entire album of the artists songs. I am hooked and I can't stop downloading there music. Some of the stuff i've downloaded already that they play are: Panic at the Disco, Alanis Morisette, Tim Mcgraw, The Roots, Sarah Mclachlan, Pearl Jam, Oasis, Janet jackson, Eric clapton, Depeche mode, Fleetwood mac, Queens of the stone age, Weezer, Stain'd, Nickelback, Nirvana and those are only the ones that i picked out!!! They have been doing this since 1999 and they continue making albums for bands and artists even now.
Now as far as my statement above talking about classical music. I'd like to get on a little soapbox about that. I have met some people...probably more than not that don't like classical music whatsoever. I think its beautiful. I dont see how people can NOT like it. I understand it is their choice and what not but what they need to understand is what classical music truly is. Without classical we would not have all the different types of music we have today. Classical Music is the original genre in my book haha. You dont have to like classical music but an appreciation of it should be warranted. *steps off soapbox*
in other news, i have like less than 15 days left here. i cant wait till the new unit gets here. Once they are here i will be helping to train them for about a week or so and then they shall "take the reigns" of our operation.
Good news.... I am getting promoted to a Sergeant!!! I'm so happy. I have been waiting for this for a while and my time has come. I just wanted to thank God first for all the blessings he has given me and for making me patient and to continue doing the right thing even though I didn't know when my time would come.
being promoted in the army is a big deal b/c not only are you a higher rank but you get paid more. Its the equivalent of getting a raise at a civilian job. You wouldn't want to spend 4 years at the same job doing the same thing and getting paid the same pay would you? Neither do we :)
I have been thinking about how life will be back at home...more in particular for this journal session...how my friendships will be affected. Will my friendships be the same? Will I still feel a common bond with my friends or will I slowly detach from them. I don't think that I will drift away from them but I can almost bet that I might slowly drift from a few friends. Not because I don't like them but probably because I am getting older and maturing more and more. This is all speculation of course...not trying to scare anyone hehe.
well time for me to go now. See everyone soon :)
