What is most important to you?: Power.
What are some of your deepest regrets?: Any instance of humiliation pains me considerably.
Describe your relationship with the emperor: I would be the perfect confidant and help-meet to the emperor. He would be able to trust me implicitly. I understand that he would be the source of my power and act accordingly. It would be dangerous for me to love him too much, as I would be expected to be faithful and he would not, but I should do everything I possibly could to keep his affections.
Describe your role in the management of the empire. Are you at all involved in it, or do you exist more behind the scenes?: I would love to be involved in running the empire - it is the most important duty of an empress to assist the emperor in whatever he sees fit. I should endevour to make him see the wisdom in granting me as share in that responsibility. I would not let him down.
How interested are you in gaining power for yourself?: It is my primary objective, but I understand the value in things seeming otherwise. I should hope I would give no one cause to call me power-hungry - an empress must appear to be a selfless creature.
Would you feign affection/love in order to win favor?: Absolutely.
How do you deal with rivals for the emperor's attention?: Slowly and carefully. In any case, I should make sure the people support me.
What do you imagine your personal legacy to be? How will history treat you, the woman at the emperor's side?: Posterity can make up its own mind - I don't care.
SCENARIO
Due to an unfortunate series of ill-advised decisions and public actions, the emperor's popularity is dwindling fast. In all likelihood, he'll be forced from his position soon. Aware of this serious situation, what do you do? Do you stand by him or do you side with his detractors in hopes of preserving your own life and influence?: Anyone with designs on the emperor will most likely come after me as well. I would try to use my influence to bolster the emperor's popularity - this will reflect well on me as his dutiful wife and my reputation as such might persuade any usurper to spare my life. If the emperor dies, I might be amenable to be consoled by his murderer a la Richard III.
