The Be Party

The Occupy Wall Street thing is starting to get on my nerves a bit, and in particular it's starting to feel like the Tea Party of the left. Disorganized, driven mainly by ill-focused outrage, lacking both knowledge regarding the things they're upset about and the interest to, you know, apply critical thinking or apply facts or analyze causality or even, really, to have a clue as to what their goal is.

So instead they're sitting in and getting arrested and basically saying that we should be really really mad about, I dunno, stuff. Greed, it seems. The banking industry, or financial institutions, or, uh…ok, well, the NYTimes describes it like this (with added emphasis): "Though the groups have no central organization and protesters in various cities are encouraged to come up with their own list of reasons for demonstrating, the protests have been organized using Facebook and Twitter to collect money, food and blankets and to enlist more supporters."

Right, great, social media empowers the masses to mobilize and form up with regimented logistics but not, apparently, know what the fuck they are on about. WILL PROTEST FOR FOOD, is the basic idea. DOWN WITH THINGS THAT AREN'T GREAT. EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG! DEATH TO EXTREMISTS!

Megaphone: WHAT DO WE WANT?
Crowd: [mumbles]
Megaphone: WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
Crowd: NOW!

You kids get off my platform, goddammit.
