Apologies to any readers. I believe toward the end of my experiences in Germany, I experienced what could be described by Ralph Waldo Emerson, as a fool's paradise:
"Traveling is a fool's paradise. Our first journeys discover to us the indifferences of places. At home I dream that at Naples, at Rome, I can be intoxicated with beauty, and lose my sadness. I pack my trunk, embrace my friends, embark on the sea, and at last wake up in Naples, and there beside me is the stern fact, the sad self, unrelenting, identical, that I fled from."
Self Reliance II
After drifting successfully through Croatian beaches, Bosnian war sites, Istanbul's bazaars and prostitution dens, Berlin's crowds at Love Parade, and chic eateries in NYC, I'm back in Chicago. Reunions over food have been plentiful, and I've mostly caught up with the significant changes in my significants' lives.
Projects are happening, writing is flowing, and my ambition is stirred. More to come!
