Philadelphia Story was hard to get into, but then it was great! I was talking to my husband about it later, and we got into a conversation about how the movie industry has been able to "teach" audiences to watch movies. ie. the first movies to show someone glance off-screen, and then show a shot of an object - the audience did not understand that the person was glancing at the object. So in this case the industry has now taught us to need less character and plot development, but ya know what, I think it usually means the story is less interesting. I would like to go back to requiring me to be patient and have faith there will be a plot while the movie develops the character and story. It just seems more "full". OK. off soap box now...
