It is really sad that I'm living in a world where having gas in my tank is a higher priority than having food in my stomach. More unfortunate still is the fact that I cannot afford either, and I am at the end of my rope. This trade-off is a statement about modern science. The invention of the automobile has changed so much over the years, more than any of us can fully realize. Think of all the things that would never have happened if it hadn't been for the automobile. And now we are at a point where the basics of survival: food, water, shelter, oxygen- have been drastically skewed in importance by the need for fuel. Fuel for the automobile that will get me to the job that will get me JUST ENOUGH, if I'm lucky, to make sure that I have food, water, and shelter- while, at the same time, SERIOUSLY taking a toll on the purity of my oxygen supply. Yeah, it's a beautiful world alright, but it is seriously fucked up, too.
