Litha review
Behind on reviews...behind on cataloguing reactions for reviews! Eee, I really can't wait for my lab order to come.
Today I review Litha!
Midsummer, Ukon Juhla, Alban Heruin, the Light of the Shore. This is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, marking the sun's highest path across the sky. The Sun God and the Lord of the Forest are at the apex of their strength, and the Holy Day itself is a celebration of light's triumph over darkness. The world around us is teeming with light and life, and on this day fertility rituals for both the land and its people are observed. Honey mead with honeysuckle, oak wood, ivy leaf, wild thyme, carnation, daisy, vervain, gum arabic, frankincense, yauhtli, and liquid copal.
In the bottle: Mead, definitely, with a fruity bubblegum note. I love mead so this is going to be good, right?
Wet on skin: Some delicious, wild, slightly "spicy" notes come out - I can smell a hint of the thyme, frankincense, and possibly a touch of oak wood.
Dry on skin: Wow, daisies really do smell fresh. This is yummy. Understated lovely florals with the overall scent of honeyed mead (which I love) and the bubblegum went away. Yum. I keep sniffing my wrists.
After a few hours: Ugh, a gross floral bubblegum mixture. Since it's limited I'll keep it for my oil burner.
Although, after cataloguing this original reaction I've tried it since in the burner and on my wrists and I love the way it smells for the first hour or so. A definite wrist-sniffer until the bubblegum comes out to play.
