Quick Sniffs: John Barleycorn, The Shattered Pumpkin, The Pumpkin Patch

John Barleycorn

BPAL description: Barley, beer, blood, and whiskey.

In the bottle: Very much liquor and grains, SOUR, and quite acrid and pungent. I don't get any blood, but sniffed I think the whiskey, BEER and barley overwhelm it. I can't imagine a woman wearing this, so masculine? It's rather what a drunken bum smells like and fits the note description quite well.

The Shattered Pumpkin

BPAL description: Soil-covered crushed pumpkin, water-weeds, saddle-leather, and pine pitch.

In the bottle: SOIL and the butter-note that is pumpkin to my nose. I don't really get much of the other notes, but I only sniffed this. Unisex to masculine.

Both were sniffed at EC Will Call. I also smelled all the Pumpkin Patch and literally could not tell any difference between the variations - they were all PUMPKIN/BUTTER to me in the bottle.
