BPAL: Quick Sniffs
More from the meet 'n' sniff I had with a friend last night, all BPAL this time.
PICKLED IMP - Cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and pine sap.
Cinnamon, clove, and pininess. Like a sweet Christmas potpourri - no vanilla at all for me.
HUNGRY GHOST MOON - Offerings of ginger candy, sugar cane, smoky vanilla and rice wine mingle with a ghost's perfume of white sandalwood, ho wood, ti, white grapefruit, crystalline musk and aloe. This scent is tapered by the presence of seven herbs, woods and resins used in the purification of the spirit and the purging of earthly concerns from the soul.
White grapefruit and fresh, gentle spices and woods. Clean, sweet, astringent. On skin, it took on a touch of soft vanilla, but the citrus and dry, astringent scents are by far dominant. Light and pleasant.
LE SERPENT QUI DANSE - Violet entwined with vanilla and gardenia.
Violet and plasticky vanilla. Strangely metallic in feel.
HARIKATA - Osmanthus, honey, golden musk, vanilla flower, and ginger.
Heady, tropical osmanthus, which reminds me a bit of plumeria, I think? Plus a touch of honeylike musk, which reminds me of Lady Una. Very lush, golden, and feminine, but not heavy.
HELLCAT - hazelnut, buttercream, honey mead, rum and sweet almond.
Desserty booze + sweet almond essence. No nut or cream that I could pick up on, so there was little depth beyond the boozy-tart fumes.
EGG NOG - Sweet brandy, dark rum, heavy cream, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg.
Sweet booze, cream, and… chocolate powder? Thick and delicious.
GINGERBREAD POPPET - Warm, cozy gingerbread spiced with nutmeg, clove and cinnamon.
Fresh gingerbread! (Shocking.) This is definitely a warm, moist gingerbread, not, say, a gingersnap.
CHANUKKIYAH - Olive oil, beeswax, glowing amber, sweet sufganiyot, pomegranate, and fig.
Rich pastry, golden amber, beeswax, and tart pomegranate. Yep, it's warm and glowy - very rich, almost syrupy in feel.
SOPHIA - A solemn, deeply profound draught of lavender, soft musks, star jasmine, black rose, delphinium, and gentle spice.
Some really unpleasant jasmine and mint. Really, really unpleasant. Honestly. It smells like a Port-a-Potty.
Sigh.
