How about a real post this time, eh?

Where to begin...

The House:

It’s shaping up finally.  Just a fresh coat of paint made a difference, but now we've gotten new carpet, new windows, new doors, and trim.  Also, we've added a very nice entertainment center and matching book shelf, 2 beautiful computer desks, some kitchen cabinets (yes we were missing major storage...can ya tell), and a kitchen table.  We still need chairs for the kitchen table, and a couch, and MAJOR work on the basement but we can get by without for now.

The Family:

Tony seems to be enjoying his job so far.  The cats are both well too.  Haku went to the vet yesterday for that...special...appointment.  He was still drunk when I got him home.  The poor thing was bumping into things because he couldn't walk straight.

The Friends:

Manda is ALMOST sure she is coming up here after Rob and Corinne's wedding.  Nothing is set in stone yet but things are looking good.  By the way, Manda, I asked the library if they were hiring and told them that you would be up here in a month or so looking and they said they were not hiring at the moment but when you get here, please come by and fill out an application.  Anyway, so there has been much preparing of the guest room.  I suppose it would be nice to have a livable room when its occupant arrives.

The School/Job Situation:

Well, it's looking more and more like I will be going back to school in the spring instead of waiting until next fall.  This means I only have between 4 and 5 months to wait instead of the year I was looking at before.  For those of you that are wondering...this is GOOD news.  While I enjoy my breaks from school, I would like to finish sometime this decade.  The school has been chosen and decisions have been made so I now have a plan of action.  What is the plan of action?..Well I'm so glad you asked.  Since I'm still a non-resident, it will be the community college to HOPEFULLY finish up my core class requirements over the spring and summer.  This of course is assuming they accept the core classes I have already done in Texas, though there is no grantee.  I will stay at the community college for Spring and Summer, or at LEAST until my core requirements are complete if not until my AA.  It all depends on Stony Brook...the college I want to complete my BA at.  The major will be Theatre Arts.  They don't actually have a "Musical Theatre" major, but they do require some dance and such be taken for the major.  The well rounded curriculum is great since I want to teach.  They offer a minor in dance that I will also do...and I THINK they have a minor in music....which I will also do...duh.  So, Major in Theatre Arts and Minors in Dance and Music.  So...with the major and 2 minors I'm looking at a 5 year program...but if they take the core and theater classes I've already taken we can knock a year off that.  As for the job idea....if I AM going back to school in the Spring...I'm not sure I want a job.  Originally I was going to get one to help us pay off the debt we acquired with the honeymoon and the move, but I don't see myself going to school everyday, coming home, and working on the house.  So now...I don't know.  I wasn't going to look for a job until Manda gets here if she is in fact coming mid September.  I don't want to get a job then, oops, sorry, I'll be gone for a week.  So that puts me into September looking for a job...but we have company coming at the end of September so I have to get everything ready for them....so that puts me into October.  Then we have all these days the last few months of the year that I can't work.  Halloween and the day before and after, the Thanksgiving holiday, the Christmas and New Year's holiday...then school starts.  So...lets say I start looking the first of October...I don't see myself being able to start a job until the middle of October, which leaves me going thought he trouble of finding a job to work for 2 months.  And it leaves me so busy, I'll never finish getting us settled.  So, I think the job may have to wait.  We don't NEED the money, it was really more to give me an excuse to get out and meet people *blush*

The Life:

So...with all that said...we come to some of the life altering debates Tony and I have.  The 2 big ones being baby, and house.  So lets start with baby.  It’s a debate when to start trying for a baby between Tony and I which is bad enough, but it's also a MAJOR internal debate.  I want to finish school...I'm tired of it hanging over my head and always being faced with dead end food service and retail jobs being the only thing I'm qualified for.  But at the same time...I know my situation conception-wise.  I may have trouble with it, and younger is better.  However...if I can start school in January I could probably be done by the time I'm 27 or 28 which isn't TOO bad.  I don't know... I guess we'll just have to see how things go.  The other thing is the house.  Right now the idea is to rent until we have the money for the down payment on a house.  Baby AND school would stall us out for years...but if I pick 1, we should be ok.  The problem, these are 2 things I want so much it hurts...and I have to pick one or the other.  Its crap if you ask me.  But I think in this case it's really a fight between logic and my maternal instincts (do not underestimate the maternal instinct).  I think in this case I just have to be a go with the flow person...hard for me, being a "plan everything to death" kind of person...but I think its just how things need to go for now...till I have a better idea how things are going to go in school and Tony's job and such.

Oh good god, I've been typing for far too long...
