So I saw 28 Weeks Later last night. I didn't think it was as good as the first film, but it was pretty interesting. I liked the direction that it went in, along with the "morals" or things to think about regarding humanity.  There were a few surprises and I really enjoyed Rose Byrne as an American military doctor.

The basic premise of this tale is:
28 weeks after the initial breakout, all of the infected have died of starvation, so the American military has taken over a section of London and created a perimeter/safety zone.  They begin repatriating London with former residents who happened to be on holiday or out of the country or who have survived the infection and they have about 15,000 people living in this zone.   I don't think I  can really say more without giving away spoilers, but of course it becomes complicated.  And eventually the military is faced with the question of how to marry total utter containment with a person's right to freedom or even life.  I did enjoy it, as I said and I'm sure I'll buy it when it's out on DVD.  Robert Carlyle, that lovely Scottish actor, has a major role in the film and he's fantastic, as always.

Here's the IMDB.com plotline - WARNING!  DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS!!
Seven months after the rage virus has annihilated the British isles, the US army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited--but one of them unwillingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever.
So I'd definitely rec it, if you liked the first movie. None of the original cast are in it, so don't expect that.  I kind of wish they would have at least let on as to how the 3 were doing - if they survived or what, but I think they wanted a whole new set of circumstances and needed to use different characters.

Oh!  And totally off topic - I have to squee over something that I saw in one of my LJ Knitting Communities. Knitted Daleks! If you're a Dr. Who fan, you'll understand the squee. :)))

That is all. Transmit fin.

28 weeks later, knitted daleks
