Confusio Linguarum

Man is and Woman is
The Fool, each lesser of the two,
Readily flattering words into
Stilted picket fences. Both
Happy to set tables,
Arrange their furniture,
Call to order meetings
With their backs to the sun.
(The sun laid raw, the sun unmade
Gathered hours and gathered shade)
Both half-aware of those truths
Cleft like the dead cow's tongue
With "Man is and Woman is".
