I'm again starting to seriously consider getting a tattoo or two. I was going to get the phoenix holding the hebrew words for the phrase "this too shall pass" - but it's too complex, and the phoenix is kinda cliche and kinda gay so I changed my mind. Then I thought (and previously typed this entry about) getting like a bad ass black knight with spiky armor and a big sword and shield on a horse, but that's also kinda complex and also kinda gay. I was looking up tattoos online and I found these two, and now I'm really thinking about getting both of them (although I'd get the first one intially, and see how I feel about having a tattoo in general).
It's the Black Mage sprite from the original NES Final Fantasy game. I know, it's nerdy. I'm nerdy though. Final Fantasy was one of my all time favorite games when I was little (along with Zelda and Mario) and the whole series is pretty good. The Black Mage has ALWAYS been my favorite. The online comic/cartoon site "8-Bit Theater" really got the personification of him down pretty well, as did FF9's Vivi character.
I like this tattoo idea because it's small, it's colorful, it's easy for an artist to recreate, and probably not too expensive. I'm thinking I could get it on my arm, shoulder, or calf. I would get it intentionally pixelated, just like the picture.
Then there's this one. I found it online. I think it's a dragon fucking a fairy? It's a little sexual - I'm debating whether it's TOO sexual. I wouldn't have a lot of detail or emphasis on the naked female body, and I may have it covered up a bit more, maybe with more of the cloth, or like part of the dragon wrapping around it. Not sure if I'd have the dragons tongue all in her face, either. I like how it's symmetrical (since I'm a little OCD about these kinds of things) but it's still different. The dragon and the girl have different wings, but they're symmetrical. Overall, it appears to form the shape of a heart.
I think it would make a good chest piece, or maybe an arm piece. It's decently complex and detailed but it's not ridiculously so. I'd probably get it in color, not B&W, but I wouldn't put too much color into it, just a little. I'd let the artist come up with that part and see what would look good.
You can provide feedback and opinions if you'd like, cause I'd like to know what people will think when they see it. But I'm not getting a tattoo so other people will like it, it's so I will like it, I'm doing it for me.
We'll see if I stay with this idea, or give up on it like most ideas. I would probably get it for my birthday or around that time in December, to give me some time to think about it and make sure it's what I want.
