Road Trip

Well I've finished the week of classes in DC, I'll be back in the armpit of the USA tonight. The class went well. Has supper at Mount Vernon last night. I was very good, but I could only eat about a fourth of what they served me. I'm really bummed about the public buildings and museums in DC. They all close at 5-5:30 PM. By the time you get into town from the hotel they're all closed.

But I did walk up the Capitol steps (couldn't get in.. see above) I *did* get in to the National Archives and saw the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the original Marbury Vs Madison decision... Which I thought was in many ways the neatest thing. Since we couldn't get into the Capitol we wandered through the National Arboretum (Bet you didn't know we had one.) It's located right at the foot of the Capitol steps a was quite interesting. As with what looks like most of Washington, the Arboretum was being expanded/renovated. Today we're off to kill time until our flight by visiting the National Air and Space Museum (the one out by Dulles, not the one downtown).
