Today was a live concert event!
I was going to see Kaya, but there were a bunch of other bands playing too.
To be honest, I wasn't very excited before hand (this is my 4th time to see Kaya) but it was fun because Kaya is made of fabulousity!

There were SO few people there. The highest ticket number I saw was like 106. so like maybe 100 people. maybe. It was so loosely backed that it was about 3 rows in the front, 2 more rows at the next headbang bar, and one row in the very back. So, way less than half empty.

So.
First was 黒乃うさぎ

He was pretty weird, even for visual kei.
He had some otaku thing going though, cuz he had a giant pillow with some anime girl on it, and all this anime dialogue going on in the background. I guess he's local to Fukuoka. Luckily he only played a few songs.

Next was Art Cube:

I liked them! The singer had a real snake, which was fascinating to stare at. And a good voice. And the cheesy goth aesthetic is A OK in my book. (They even had candles on the keyboard. Fabulous)

Then was Insanity Frontier. I can't find a good picture of them, but they're kinda pretty. I had seen them once before and enjoyed them. They've got a lot of complex Furitsuke (choreography that the audience does) that I don't understand, but it's a lot of fun.

Then was Juliette.

They didn't look anything like this, but I can't find a more recent photo. They seem to have some dedicated fans, but I didn't care for them much. I just kind of stared at the (unpictured) guitarist. He was beautiful and was smiling so widely the entire time. He reminded me of someone, but I can't place who. Either one of my students or some other VK guitarist (maybe I've seen him with a different band?). I guess he looked sorta like Miyavi, so that may be it too.

(Damn. I forgot how pretty Miyavi is until I just did that image search. I don't like his music now, but damn child.)

Then, Finally, was メトロノーム

They were awesome. I've only heard a couple of their songs, and I like them, but they were so fun live. They are just (obviously) kind of goofy and geeky, and their music is interesting and good. Most of the audience was there to see them I think.

Lolz.

Then, FINALLY was Kaya!

Kaya is the most beautiful EVER.
He only played about 5 or 6 songs (including the 2 from his newest single) but of course he talked a LOT. I don't see how it is humanly possible to not like Kaya, but if it were, it would be really annoying to see him live because he talks for at least half of his stage time. And ever second of it is FABULOUS.
He's got this demure, feminine voice, but then he giggles and himself and it totally an evil cackle, which makes the crowd laugh. Every time this happens Kaya always is like "WHAT! Why are you laughing!?"
He mostly just went on and on about his upcoming lives and stuff. apparently he is having a live onKamijo's birthday but he made a point of asking Kamijo's permisson first. (Because they're boyfriends.)

For one song he brought out some random Drag Queen friends for I don't know why, but I am not complaining.
Kaya was still the prettiest.

Now, this is why I don't understand big venues. I mean, if I'm not close enough to touch (Kaya always offers himself up. Sometimes he sucks on people fingers. gross, but *waaaaant*) I don't really see the point. I dunno. I've been to so many VK lives recently that I forget how to do things any other way. (I am fairly certain that there is not nearly enough synchronized dainty hand waving in American Rock.)

The good news is. I made a friend! Kind of. Some random gyaru looking girl who looked familiar was standing next to me and just started talking to me in English. She is a Kaya fan too and had seen me at lives before. Apparently she lived in New Zealand for 4 years. We didn't talk much because I can't communicate with humans, but she did asked me when I was going to my next concert which was nice. I hope I see her again.

i want to have kaya's babies, metronome, visual kei, live report
