To Decatur and Back again...a very boring tale

Dec 26, 2006 21:34

It all began so innocently. The mild December weather made the journey quite bearable and the gentle breezes wafted the odours of manufactured bean and corn biproducts out of the vicinity.

Up up and away over the bridge past the heart of the city. The sight was breathtaking...

Bethany cries out in ecstacy, "Oh darling, we just have to stop for a wholesome meal. The first place we saw looked as good as they come. We ate and were satisfied.

I grabbed a shake to go and we were on our way...

Past the lake and the tiny ponds,

and we were home...

There was family to see...

and naps to take.

Even Phillip the squirrel wanted to say hello.

After more wonderful food and it was time to rest some more. We cuddled up with a good book or friend and took and admired the tree while we settled in for a while.

The next morning we took the trusty beetle on a tour of the town.

We saw the pines

The dead...

And Jesus.

But all too soon, it was time to go. We caught our flight and headed home.

As our journey concluded, we became sad and gloomy. Something was wrong. Something was missing. Though we had seen family, friends and the great city of Decatur, the Spirit of Christmas was not within. ...Someone wasn't there.

But as we walked through the door, to our great suprise, there stood he in glorious apparel (and hair style)...

Santa was there with a smile.
