Faire

Weekend was good. Went to faire on Sunday. It was ok, but nothing exciting. To be honest I really wouldn’t mind all that much if I didn’t go at all next year (except for Dickens, Cant miss Dickens) although it was nice to see all the people I know there. That, and R does look good in her costume (as do I but I wont be so smug as to say so out loud). Thing is, I am in touch with all the people who I want to be in touch with, so its not like I have to go to Faire to see them, although it is somewhat convenient to have them all in the same place.
I don’t know if it’s the faire or me, probably a little of both. I don’t need it as a stress reliever as I don’t have that much stressas I did when I disliked any combination of my job, place of residence, millitary status and social life. I have plenty of social outlets, and things to keep me entertained, I like where I live and I like my job. I don’t even have the ‘Maybe I’ll meet someone Interesting this year’ as I already did that at Dickens a few years ago. I have also noticed that of all my friends from faire only one is still there that have I known for more than 6 years. All the others do faire sporadically or not at all. So really, for me, faire isn’t at all like it was in the old days. (Oh God! I’m one of Them now..)
As for Faire, it seems prices are going up; quality is going down or at best holding steady. Nothing really new jumped out at me that really got me excited. (I say this having only seen small bits of maebelle’s new show. I’m sure if I did see the whole thing I would hold that as the exception to the Nothing New Is Exciting Rule) A lot of the same people saying the same lines. Maybe 3 days a year of Ren faire is too much for me now. Well, we shall see next Southern.

Of course all this Faire Isn’t As Exciting As It Used To Be talk does apply to Dickens. We likes the Dickens.
