umm....we bought a house today
Yes, you read that right.
Two weeks ago, Tim and I decided we would go take a look at a few open houses, just to get an idea of what we might want - we were planning on buying a house after the wedding. And then we decided that we'd rather buy a house in one of the newer planned communities (everything here is in a subdivision! and I really do mean everything). So we started looking at the newer communities and decided that we would pick a floorplan and build because we didn't find what we were looking for at an affordable price.
We decided on a community and a floorplan, and went today to get paperwork started. Well, it turned out that they had just dropped the price on an inventory home that was the floorplan we had wanted and had previously been out of our price range. So we figured we'd take a look at it again and go from there. After talking some more with our realtor, we decided to see what the sales rep could do for us, because moving into a finished house now would guarantee that we get the tax rebate. All told, between the first price we saw on the home last week and what we ended up agreeing on, we got them to bring the price down about 17k. The house ends up costing 2k less than the base price if we built a new home, and it has 18k+ in upgrades.
We got an awesome deal. And we move in July.
I should probably start packing.
