Hipster or Grandma?

= Sierra's recent game of trying to guess which one people are from far away.  Made possible by the current grandma-style fashion trend among hipsters.

The other day at work when I was stuck working inside on a nice day (and was therefore immensely bored, thus watching the clock), I got to thinking about the way time can be perceived to be moving at different speeds for different people depending on what they're doing.   For the people working the outside that day, time must have been moving quite quickly, whereas for me it dragged.  I thought that it would be interesting to see some sort of video diagram describing the perceived speed of time for different people at the same time and place.  I suppose it could be done by showing the people moving at the pace that time seemed to be moving for them.  Such a video would show me moving in super slow motion, while others would be running around like crazy.  Or something more creative, I suppose.

Things I've noticed that seem to be bigger deals in New York than in Colorado:

-Brunch: crazy specials everywhere
-Frozen Yogurt:  joints all over the place
-Cupcakes:  shops, restaurants and bars specializing in them everywhere

I'm all about all of the above.

I've noticed a trend in my music listening habits as of late involving becoming obsessed with single songs rather than full albums.  I'm not impressed.  With myself mostly.  But I think I just haven't been impressed by too many full albums lately.  At any rate, my current obsession is Blitzen Trapper's "Wild Mountain Nation."  Can't listen to anything else.

I like eating breakfast on the fire escape with Levi and watching the neighborhood cats jam out.

I went to the Beach with Sierra, Levi and Jenny B earlier in the week and had an incredible time.  We brought a picnic of olives (my recent food obsession), tomatoes, mozzarella, bread and berries which contributed to the day's greatness.  I swear living near the beach cancels out all negative aspects of living here.  Afterward, we went to see my roommate Mickey's band, Motel Motel, open for a free screening of Evil Dead 2 in McCarren Park.  Tonight I went to see The Dirty Projectors play a free show at the East River park today in front of a gorgeous New York skyline.  The female vocals were phenomenal.  They reminded me a bit of the female vocal harmonies with which I was extremely impressed at the Jenny Lewis show a couple weeks ago.  Yay harmonizing girls!  I've been feeling much less negative about life now that I've had some time to enjoy it a little bit.  Funny how that works.
