I happened to hear about this magazine called "Ode" that is supposed to be pretty spectacular and so I was browsing its website to see what it's like. I came across a statement from its editor about the sort of things they like to cover and one part, just mentioning in brief a woman from Morocco's view on the oppression of Western women (in one sense), struck me as interesting and rather dead-on. So I have copied and pasted it below for the enjoyment of my comrades:
"IDEAS like Moroccan author Fatema Mernissi’s proposition that Western women are kept in a harem by the Western male fantasy of the perfect woman’s body - that of a teenage girl. “We Muslim women have only one month of fasting,” she writes, “but the poor Western woman who diets has to fast 12 months a year.”"
