Riptide

May 09, 2006 08:14

Sand stealing ocean waves,
Break across the horizon,
Ushering in the numbing grays,
Hiding ghosts in the transient haze,
Melancholy's cool liaison

Cool currents spiral away,
Trapping all thought inside them,
An imprint in the eye of day,
Wherein lays the dawn of "Stay?",
Undercurrents steal compassion,

Eddy pools wile and whorl,
Conning hearts to come and hide,
Giving naught but bleak turmoil,
Taking all but solemn toil,
Into the gray horizon faith slides,

Angry limbs must thrash and flail,
Seeking something calm inside,
Against the tide compassion rails,
Soaring thought on new wind sails,
When they lurch off from the riptide
