Quite an interesting day. Joined my dad in taking my brother and his friend to a YuGiOh card premiere. It took forever to find the convention center where it was being held, because Mapquest told us it was at 3rd and Main. 3rd and Main is a parking lot. However, we did eventually find it at 5th and Broad, which is two streets down and one street over.
This was after stopping at an intersection, where my dad wondered aloud, "Why are there stoplights to the left and right but not... in front of us?"
Looking ahead, I informed him - at the sight of the oncoming car, "That's because we're going the wrong way!"
The Greater Richmond Convention center is really nice though. I'm thoroughly excited about going to AnimeMidAtlantic 6 there this year. However, there will be no food purchased there. At least, not by me. Not when a smaller than usual medium sized drink is $2.50. I will gladly stop by McDonald's (where I can get the same food) and order off the $1 menu.
In any case, the tourney wasn't... really a tourney. Unless you were playing in the sanctioned duels. Those were geared more towards experienced, competitive duelists, whereas there was open dueling which catered to less experienced players and beginners. Now, my brother is pretty good. But we got him to go for open dueling, so he'd have more fun with it. And he did well, four out of five duels won.
I didn't get too much out of it, though I did spend a little money to get new card protectors. They're very pretty and made smaller to fit the size of the YuGiOh cards.
