I'm looking for a training partner. They need to be proficient in some sort of martial art, armed or otherwise - it doesn't matter what kind. I'm not doing much else with my money, so I'm willing to pay for your time.

I wouldn't mind. If we're to meet, it would be better to do so at night. Mr. Grady might not approve of such things.

Mokou leaned against a tree in her backyard. She had told him to come to her backyard at sundown, and to bring a weapon. She hadn't brought one herself.

While her eyes were closed, she was fully aware of anyone entering the yard.

Cornelius trotted up quietly, bowing as he came to a stop. "'tis good to see you well, Mokou."

Mokou opened her eyes as Cornelius approached, smiling faintly. "And you as well, Cornelius."

The pooka unstrapped his sword from his back, clutching it in both hands. "I am ready when you are."

Mokou stopped leaning on the tree, standing before Cornelius but drawing no weapon. "Please, show no mercy. Your opponent cannot die."

"If you insist." Cornelius smiled, having absolutely no intention of not showing mercy where applicable. He leapt into the air, launching himself at Mokou in a spinning attack like a vertical frisbee.

A sharp vertical frisbee.

Mokou, unarmed, dashed directly toward Cornelius's attack. She raised her right arm to block it, the sword cutting down to the bone in a spray of blood.

Mokou took the opportunity to throw a roundhouse kick toward Cornelius's body.

Cornelius flew back and landed on his feet, rallying for a second attack before noticing the wound. "M-Mokou!" he stammered, shocked. He'd expected her to dodge, not block with her own body! "Are you alright!?"

"I told you not to show mercy!" Gritting her teeth to bear the pain, Mokou sprung forward for another kick.

Cornelius blocked the blow with his sword, grunting with exertion. He had no wish to harm Mokou, but if what she said was true, this was what she wished...

"Very well."

He swung upward with the blade, slicing vertically towards her chest.

This time Mokou raised a leg to block the slice, taking another deep wound. The pain was almost unbearable, almost enough to die from.

But, well, Mokou couldn't die at all.

Using her remaining good arm, she brought her elbow down hard directly at Cornelius's hand, aiming to knock the sword from his grip.

One hand lost its grip on the blade, thanks in no small part to Cornelius' shock at the wounds he was inflicting on his friend. His balance thrown off, he spun in a weak circle as the blade's weight went wild.

Mokou stepped forward to take advantage of the opening, but she miscalculated the amount of weight she could stand to put on her wounded leg, which buckled underneath her, leaving her in a half-composed heap on the ground.
