Back! With fic!

Now, now, don't get excited! It's new, unbeta'd and running out of steam. But I like where it's going. I will finish all the rest by the time I'm 30...I hope.

Ok, so this is a Doctor Who/Buffy based on a FFA at tthfanfic (The First Evil/The Tenth Doctor).
As usual, I don't own the chars, just playing around. Let me know if you like, and suggestions are so welcome because I'm a bit stuck at the end of this.

He found her shivering in the corner of the Tardis, his coat draped over her knees, staring aimlessly around the room: "Come on Donna, whole new world to discover, just got to step out of that door!"

She looked up at him, eyes shining with tears, mascara running black lines down her face.

He dropped to his knees, "Hey, now, you look like you've seen a ghost."

She spoke, "It pretended to be that girl Stephanie, then Dad, then this girl I'd never met before. Blonde, pretty, bit skinny."

He got his sonic screwdriver out and scanned the air, for something untraceable to Donna's eyes. "And how did you know it was pretending?"

She shuddered, "It showed me. It showed me Doctor - it's true shape. It was horrible. Stuff you wouldn't even think in your worst nightmares. It told me it's name."

He nodded, urging her to go on.

"It said it was The First."

He turned away, racking his brain for a tiny speck of knowledge, "The First What?"

"Right," The Doctor span around, "Looks like early 21st Century, America," he sniffed the air, "Sunnydale in California." He offered his companion a roguish grin, "Did you know we're on a hellmouth?"

She put her hands up as though to push him away, "Woah. Slow down Space-Boy. Did you say 'hell'? Because I never know with you..."

"Well," he blustered, "Hellmouth, which is basically an entrance to hell..."

"Are you telling me, that hell is real?"

He cocked his head to one side and opened the Tardis door, "Let's find out, shall we?"

Her troubles supposedly forgotted, Donna mirrored The Doctor's grin, excitement washing over her as she could only guess at what was waiting on the other side.

Only to walk straight into the blonde she'd seen before.

"DOCTOR!!!"

He grimaced, "Ow, what? Has anyone ever told you that your voice is possibly as dangerous as a sonic device?"

The blonde held an axe. As covertly as possible, Donna stage-whispered, "That's her Doctor. The girl it pretended to be."

"What?"

"Doctor she's holding an axe."

"What??!"

The blonde tapped her foot inpatiently, "She can hear you. And since you appeared without an invitation, I'll assume you're both willing answer any questions I have for you on pain of being rerranged into nice, neat little pieces," she tested the weight of her weapon, "with this big ol' shiny axe."

The Doctor looked for all intensive purposes like he was in a theme park, "Of course," he threw his hands up to show his surrendor and winked at Donna who promptly did the same, "allons-y!"

They were led downstairs to a rather dark basement, where a man sat on a cot bed with a cigarette. "Visitors?" he raised an eyebrow.

The girl with the axe rolled her eyes, "More like unwanted house-guests."

She gestured to the floor, "Sit."

The Doctor however, was entranced, "You - you're dead. But you're walking around - do you know you're dead?" he turned to the girl, "Does he know he's dead?"

The man on the bed took a long drag of his cigarette, exposing the manacle around his wrist, "Known over 100 years, mate."

The Doctor felt a strong hand on his shoulder, "You should really sit down now."

He sat.

"So, who are you, where did you come from, and why did you appear in my lounge?"

Donna opened her mouth to speak but the Doctor beat her to the punch, "Best let me handle this." He looked at the girl, "I'm The Doctor, this is Donna. We're travellers, we stopped in your house by mistake."

The girl sighed and sat on the bed, "Nothing in my line of work happens by mistake. And what are you a Doctor of, anyway?"

"Oh, everything, nothing - I'm just The Doctor." he watched as the man whispered something into the girls ear, after which she bolted upright, hand gripping her axe.

"You're not telling me enough. What kind of demon are you? Because I know humans don't have two hearts."

"Ah, yes," he stood up, hands in his pockets, "I'm not quite human. Not demon either. Just...different. And you," he nodded at his interviewer, "You're not exactly human yourself either."

Donna stood up, "Whaddya mean she's not even human?!"

He towered a good head and shoulders above her, but she wasn't afraid, "I'm The Slayer."

He extended his hand to her, "Ok Slayer. I'm The Doctor. Nice to meet you."

Donna shook her head, "Fine, ignore me. Soon as a pretty blonde steps in the picture..."

A small smile played on the captors lips, and she shook his hand, "Buffy."

The Doctor looked slightly confused.

"Me - I mean I'm Buffy."

"S'not very nice. luv, to be making googly eyes at the strange man over there, what with me being chained up over here!" muttered the man on the bed.

"That's Spike," Buffy rolled her eyes, "We had a thing."

Hands on her hips, Donna looked from Spike, to the Doctor, to Buffy, "Well sunshine if you're done with him-"

The Doctor tutted and shook his head, "Donna."
