Recently SCAD has been really enthusiastic about identity theft and stolen bank account numbers. They've been passing around emails warning us to be careful of "local businesses" and holding "helpful tip" seminars. Well. No wonder.
Today I found that over $1000 had been fraudulently removed from my bank account, leaving me terribly over-drafted after my $800/mo rent check cleared. My card number was somehow copied from a purchase at Ex Libris, the Savannah College of Art and Design campus bookstore.
WUT? How can this continue unchecked in a place where we're supposed to feel the safest? I was told by my bank that I was the third SCAD student just this week to fall victim after visiting Ex Libris. They could at least be honest about what "local business" is responsible instead of passing the buck.
