CHARACTER
NAME: Weiss the Immaculate
AGE: 27
GENDER: Male
ROLE IN CANON: Antagonist, though 'puppet' might be more accurate. He has a history of being used and controlled to carry out the desires of others, and although he serves as a driving force behind the plot of Dirge of Cerberus, it is revealed that his actions were not his own. (Had he been able to act of his own will, he likely would have served the same role of antagonist, though with different motives and actions.)
FANDOM: Final Fantasy VII Compilation
FANDOM MEDIUM: Video Game
TIMELINE PERIOD: From the end of Dirge of Cerberus, after being defeated by Vincent/ Chaos.
ABILITIES: Years of undergoing various experiments and rigorous training have equipped Weiss with immense strength and skill, making him more than a match for even the most formidable of opponents. Physically, his body is strong enough to serve as a host for the WEAPON Omega and is able to withstand blows that would leave most others crippled, making him seemingly indestructable.
On top of physical capabilities, he also possesses a few other abilities, such as being able to make copies of himself to use in battle, as well as sending blasts of energy at his opponent. Outside of battle, he is able to perform a Synaptic Net Dive, or SND, which allows him to send a residual image of himself directly into a network.
CHARACTER HISTORY: Weiss the Immaculate was born and raised in Deepground, an institution built deep below Midgar that was originally a medical facility. It was here that a top secret branch of SOLDIER was trained, it's members undergoing a number of bizarre experiments that deviated from the usual procedure used. Weiss rose quickly through the ranks, becoming the first member of Deepground to become a Tsviet, an elite branch of the group. Only a select few would be able to advance this far, and due to his unmatchable strength even at their levels, he was made something of a leader, even receiving the title of "Immaculate Emperor".
Owing to the fact that Deepground was hidden away underground, it was a rare occasion that any of the members would see the world above. Weiss was one of these exceptions, along with his brother Nero, as the two of them were sent on a mission that allowed them to go above ground. This particular mission required them to collect the SOLDIER named Genesis and bring him back to Deepground. Weiss, along with a few others, would later be spliced with Genesis' genes and assigned a color to mark their status, making up an even more exclusive branch of Tsviets referred to as 'Colored Tsviets'.
These beings were so powerful that those in charge, called Restrictors, took extra precautions against them, such as having chips implanted in their neck that would allow them to be controlled. Even more steps were taken with Weiss, as he received an even more complex chip, one that would allow control and, upon the death of these rulers, release a virus that would kill him within three days. Due to his status as 'Emperor', he was even isolated and confined, chained to a throne and monitored around the clock.
Growing tired of the Restrictor's rule and craving freedom, Weiss soon started plotting a rebellion. At one point he asked Genesis for help in the plight, but the SOLDIER declined, choosing instead to isolate himself. It was only a minor hindrance, however, as soon Weiss was able to unite Deepground under the common goal of freedom, and started plotting a coup.
Due to the fact that he and the others were unable to attack the Restrictors directly due to the chip implanted in them, they instead used a fresh recruit, guiding her through the training program. Since she lacked the chip that prevented them from attacking the Restrictor directly, she would be able to carry it out and weaken him.
This plan was put into action as one day, while Weiss sat chained to his throne, he bargained with the Restrictor to remove the chains, requesting to try out his new swords in a handicapped match. The Restrictor granted him his wish, removing his binds and allowing him his match, making him face both Azul the Cerulean and Rosso the Crimson at the same time. He made quick work of the two of them, even after they went into their stronger forms.
After they were defeated, he turned on the Restrictor, yet was unable to attack. It was then that he ordered the recruit to shoot him. The battle was tough, but she proved useful, serving the purpose the Tsviets had intended. Though she was successful, the Restrictor managed to turn on her, injuring her. Weiss took his chance while the Restrictor was weakened, breaking past the effects of the chip and attacking him, dealing a fatal blow. As he died, the others gathered around and rejoiced, finally free from his binds. Weiss now had complete control of Deepground.
However, there were still a few things to take care of, one being the virus that was released within Weiss at the time of the Restrictor's death. In an attempt to find the antidote, he performed a Synaptic Net Dive, sending a residual image of himself onto the network and searching for the cure. It didn't go quite as planned, though, as he encountered a presence he hadn't anticipated.
As a safety measure while he was still alive, a certain Professor Hojo took a number of steps to help preserve his existance, one of these steps being the scattering of his mind across the network. When Weiss entered the network, these remnants invaded his consciousness, granting Professor Hojo complete control over his body. His desire was to awaken Omega, which would ultimately destroy the planet and seek to begin life anew. To do this, he required a strong body that was untainted and 'pure', which is what Weiss had to offer.
Using Weiss' authority, and the undying loyalty of his brother Nero, Hojo took command of Deepground, ordering them to capture humans that were not infected with Geostigma to use as holding places for mako energy, which he would collect and use to fuse Weiss with Omega by slaughtering them to trick the planet. To do this, he required the protomateria, which was in a certain Vincent Valentine's possession. Issuing an order to have it retrieved, this order was carried out successfully by Rosso the Crimson, who ripped the materia right out of his chest.
The wound failed to kill him, however, and Vincent was able to come back, battling Deepground and disposing of the Tsviets one by one as he infiltrated Deepground itself. Eventually, he arrived in the secretive Mako Reactor 0, the place where Weiss was being held and the plot was being carried out. It was revealed that Weiss was actually dead, his brother Nero stepping forward and explaining that he had been granted with the answer to give his brother life once more. As Weiss awakened, Nero stepped forward, relieved to finally have his brother back once more. However, Weiss turned on him, dealing him a fatal blow and casting him aside.
A confrontation with Vincent followed, and Hojo revealed his plan in full, admitting that he was the one behind the slaughters and confessing openly how he took over the mind of Weiss, using him to carry out his plan. After the encounter, Vincent engages in battle with Weiss, but can't match his immense strength in his current form. Defeated, Vincent attempts to call forth the power of Chaos, and with his new strength, he is able to defeat Weiss, dealing him a seemingly fatal blow.
As he lay there wounded, the presence of Nero came forward and attempted to merge with Weiss in order to save him. Hojo commanded him to stop, saying he needed a pure vessel to carry out his wish, but neither Weiss or Nero listened to him and proceeded to merge, destroying him in the process. Free of Hojo's control, Weiss stepped forward and proceeded to summon the being Omega. As Omega started carrying out it's purpose, Chaos made his way into the WEAPON where he finally met Weiss once more. Once again they fought, but Chaos proved to be more than a match for him, destroying Omega in the process and sending Weiss to his presumed death.
However, it appeared as though Weiss survived the encounter, though not unscathed. Genesis appears once more to carry him off, but before he has had time to completely heal, he appears in Edelweiss, still feeling the effects of the aftermath of the encounter.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY: When talking and generally interacting with Weiss, there are really two sides of his personality you are likely to encounter. The more dominant part of his psych contains traits inherited from spending years in Deepground, these traits being the ones that make up the cold, calculating, and decisive part of him. Lacking any hint of morals or values, he acts mercilessly and without reservation. If there is something that needs to be done, he simply does it, without a trace of guilt or a second thought.
Despite this, to mistake him for a mindless killer would be inaccurate, as he possesses a keen, sharp mind. Though most around him have degraded into beings who enjoy killing for the sake of killing with no reason or purpose, Weiss has retained enough sanity to be able to formalize plans and strategies. He is able to prioritize and possesses a sense of direction, and it is because of this that Deepground respects him so. It is this trait that makes him an ideal leader, able to improvise and utilize what is available to him and bring others towards a common goal.
The other side of him you'll likely see is the much more personal one, the side that takes enjoyment in what he does when he is able to set aside his duties as a leader. He views fighting, and even killing, as nothing more than sport, and often desires to stack the odds against him, seeking a challenge. With that in mind, he enjoys the hunt far more than the kill, and would much rather face a worthy opponent rather than a number of people who are easily killed.
HOW IS THIS CHARACTER APPROPRIATE FOR THIS SETTING: Weiss spent most of his life in a setting not unlike Edelweiss, and potentially worse by comparison. He is used to being experimented on and controlled, and having these aspects (along with the scattered deaths) will likely make him feel right at home. With that said, he'll adjust to the setting very well, prepared for pretty much anything that might happen.
WHAT WILL THEIR DIAGNOSIS BE: Schizoid Personality Disorder
PREDICTED PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS: It is highly unlikely the darker aspects of Edelweiss will have any affect at all. Weiss accepted long ago that the people around him are disposable and the people above him are always wanting more. Death, experimentation and a number of other cruel, inhumane acts are by no means a novel experience, Edelweiss being an improvement in comparison. Despite that, having these similarities present will actually serve as a comfort.
The 'improvements', on the other hand, will likely be the things that have the largest impact on his psych. One of the things he will struggle to grasp is the idea that he is on the same level as all the other patients, whereas in Deepground he was [literally] placed on a throne and confined to it. There is also a small amount of newfound freedom that will come with the situation, as it will be the first time in a long time that he will be able to act, think, and speak of his own free will, to a certain extent. One last thing he will have to adjust to is how willing those around him are to form bonds, and how reluctant they are to accept death.
PREDICTED BEHAVIOUR/PLANS: Weiss, above all else, desires freedom, and there is no question that he will once again work to obtain this freedom. Like he did with Deepground, he will likely try to form alliances among the other patients (and, depending on circumstances, staff) and plot a rebellion.
However, any alliances he does make will be strictly business, as it is highly doubtful he will be interested in more personal relationships. Outside of doing what is necessary, he'll maintain a certain level of isolation from the others, choosing to keep mostly to himself. An exception of this is the fact he will likely seek out the stronger patients and attempt to test his strength against them.
DANGER LEVEL: 2. Though he has no reason to target the other patients, he doesn't really need one. Trained to be a merciless killer, he takes enjoyment and a certain amount of pride in what he does. Unless he sees a specific use for them, the people around him are disposable.

THIRD PERSON: It was unlikely that he would ever agree with Shelke, but she was correct in saying their binds would never be broken, not completely. They had broken free from the Restrictor, but there were some things that they simply would never get back. Looking back, Weiss and the others had never been considered people in their own right. They were always specimens, weapons, tools, created and intended to be used by others. Even death hadn't saved him from the precedent, as he had been purposely revived to serve the purpose of another.
No matter how many times he and the others earned their freedom, people would always see them in the same light. This time, however, Weiss was determined to keep that freedom, and anyone who came along trying to take it from him again would be hard-pressed to do so. He was on his guard and prepared, not willing to find himself in the clutches of another so easily.
Even now, he followed Genesis' every word carefully, following along and realizing exactly what he wanted to do. So, he listened, a small smirk on his own face, as Genesis presented his pitch. His own confidence radiated, as he didn't move or flinch as Genesis approached, not even when the contact was made. Instead, his eyes eyes danced back and forth with calm amusement as they looked into the other mans, narrowing dangerously when Genesis finished.
"I am no puppet, not anymore," he said, confidentally, not taking his eyes off of the other man. Weiss intended to make it quite clear that he would no longer be used. "If you want to follow, fine, but I will lead." The statement was crisp and final, and to further show that he was done with the conversation, he turned and walked away, letting the conversation end abruptly to hang in the air.
FIRST PERSON: [Static opens the broadcast, white noise strongly disrupting the transmission for a few moments, until finally it settles. Laughter can be heard replacing the noise as it clears, until it, too, eventually dies down.]
How long has it been? How much has the world changed in my absence?
The wait is now over. I've given you years to catch up, improve... I hope you've used them wisely. [More brief laughter filters through.] Now is the time to see just how much you've learned.
Consider it a test, my friends, to apply your new skills, test your new boundaries, throw away your fear.
It is I against you, and I'd hate to be disappointed. I'm not ready for you all to die.
Yet.
You're already off to a bad start, so allow me to enlighten you. You might want to improve your security.
[There is a voice in the background of a man sputtering, pleading, before a gunshot brings it to a halt. The laughter starts again, feeding through for a few brief moments before the transmission cuts off.]
