I need to repartition my MacBook Pro. It currently has two partitions, one running OSX and the other Ubuntu. I wanted to change the portion of the HD allocated to each, but that cannot be changed at this point (I am not surprised, actually, though if I am missing something here, please pipe up, whoever you are). So, the only way to change partition size will involve the blowing away of all my data.
All my data lives in the "cloud" - a curious combination of the UbuntuOne service, iDisk and Dropbox - here I am talking about documents and such data that resides in applications such as Omni Focus), so in some theory, I could just have everything blown away, reinstall those applications that don't get installed automatically with the OS, and sync data from the cloud. I guess my mood is not that experimental (especially on the Mac side of things - I've reinstalled my Ubuntu environment so many times I can do it in my sleep with the left hand tied to my right foot), so I would like to back up my Mac environment first (again, much more comfortable with Ubuntu in this department).
So I am curious about people's thoughts regarding external HDs to use for that purpose. I would like to have a 1 TB size device (so that both me and the wyf can do our backups without worrying about running out of space) - anything anyone cares to recommend (I would like to keep it as close to $100 as possible)?
