I'm alive, but I just found out Jonny left KH, so I kinda feel like crying. And then I feel guilty for being so far behind the loop, and... blah. Oh, well.

I'm currently sharing one-half of Kasey's bed in their new two-bedroom apartment. We're still in the process of moving twenty years of furniture and memories and LIFE into this tiny apartment, ( Read more... )

Yes, the deal with Jon, very sad.

I mean, it could be worse, I guess. He could be dead. Or there could have been a falling out.

But it was neither. He just wanted to pursue other things, and like Greg said, he HAS been in the band since he was 18. He hasn't really felt out much else, musically.
So I really don't blame him. I just hope he'll come back after he realizes that he got it right the first time(:

As for Kill Hannah, I have no idea how they'll tour without him. I mean, unless the dude from Powerspace that's been filling in for the Euro tour and that last Chicago show has a lot of free time, it seems to me like they'll need a completely new lead guitarist, because even if Mat picked up a part, in most of the FN&E songs, there's three guitar parts anyway...

Oh! and Mat is possibly going to be Peter Parker in the new Spiderman musical. He auditioned. They couldn't believe that he'd never acted before. It's still up in the air, but he hasn't gotten anything negative yet (just letting you know. I find it utterly hilarious. I really hope he gets the part. that'd just be made of win and I'd totally go to the show)

Hm... what else...

nothing KH related. Other than the fact that I get to go to an Oklahoma City show in July cos they aren't coming any closer than that.

Butyeah...

Yeah, I'm excited that he has another project coming out, but I'd be real surprised to see it do any better than Kill Hannah. Just sayin'.

And as far as the falling out bit, I was under the impression that it had more to do with his chick than anything dealing with the band. Plus, looking at some of the other groups out there, it's REALLY rare to find a band that hasn't changed its line-up 473289 times before making it real big... or even getting to wherever they are now!

Dude, I would sooo love to see Mat in a musical, no matter what it is, although Spiderman would be friggin' awesome. I wish they were touring through my neck of the woods this time, but it appears that I missed my chance with Flyleaf, so now I'm le screwed on ever seeing them (unless I end up in Chicago for Christmas).

what do you mean by "any better"? As in, bigger fan base or musically better?

And... well, it's kind of obvious that it's a lot about Jessica. I mean, I heard somewhere (I really don't remember where, so it's possible that this may not be true... but I wouldn't think to remember it if it wasn't...) that he didn't do that European tour because he moved to New York for her (to live with her? idr)...

and... so are you saying that KH has a better chance of "making it real big" now that they've lost Jon?
Cos you phrased that weird. I mean, if you wanted to use the whole reasoning, you'd think that KH would be REAL BIG by now. I mean... their "former members list on Wiki is... (-counts-) 7 people long!

Wait... What? Now I'm confused! Argh...

I meant "any better," as in, "Kill Hannah has created a very loyal, very devoted fanbase. While they are not as huge as, say, Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers, or even the Backstreet Boys, or had the sudden increase in fame like Metro Station or half the other bands out there, and you'll probably never hear them on MTV or VH1 or any of the local radio stations, but still. For Jon to leave does not immediately guarantee success for his band OR Kill Hannah, yet I foresee him not gaining overnight success with his new group, and that it will basically be a cute little side-project, unless a band already on the quick rise loses a member and he slides into their spot."

And the entire time KH was in Europe, and even for a while after they got back, all Jonny and Jess Twitter'd about were the places they were viewing in LA, which pretty much gave the heads-up, wayyy before it was ever made official, that he was going to be leaving. Dan left LA to go to Chicago and be in Kill Hannah, and Jon was leaving Chicago and Kill Hannah to be in LA with Jess.

I think Kill Hannah will see a somewhat damaging loss in fan support with Jon's departure, but with what little I've seen/heard of their new album, I think they will even themselves out in the end... or come damn close to it.
