So, I couldn't post this on my other blog because I have to keep that one PG-13, and frankly there's too many skantily clad women in these videos.
In any case, Eurovision!
(Side note: Nicely enough, you can get the general gist of each performance by the preview screen shot youtube loads if you don't want to watch it, although I recommend you do so your brain can explode due to all of the BAD)
Every year each country in Europe sends their best musical artist with one song to the Europe wide competition in a show that produces such spectacular pieces of artistry such as my favorite entrant from 2007!
Now once all the entries are in, there's an internationally televised program where the top 25 finalists perform, and then you have 14 minutes to call and text your vote. Then, each of the 42 countries awards up 10 countries points ranging from 1-12.
This year gave us yet another amazing entry from Ukraine:
The general consensus is that no one has any idea what's going on in either of these videos. But that's the POINT!
My personal favorite entry this year was from good ol' Germany, with a singer who was actually from California! (Mostly I just like it because his pants are insane and his eye brows are waaaaaaay to plucked... and of course there's the lyric "Do the cootchie bang bang!")
Then there's the happy go lucky acid trip from Portugal:
Then the crazy bitch who needs to stop smoking from France:
Here's the TERRIFYING Russian entry, which I think explains the Russian mentality pretty well -- "We're from Russia, we only have shower curtains to wear, so let's cry about it."
And to top things off, here's a pelvic thrusting, overly tan Grecian.
And lastly, the god-awful winner from Norway. BLEGH.
The Spanish one isn't worth mentioning cuz it's super boring.
Anyway, all the countries don't actually vote for the best, they vote for the country who, apparently, has been the least offensive. No one ever votes for Spain except for Portugal and Andorra, and everyone generally hates Germany, while giving pity votes to Israel. (They're not even a part of Europe!)
In short, I hate Norway for winning this year, and Finland came in last and they were PISSED.
