Mein Kampf

"Arrivals" and "Departures." What constitutes as an "arrival"? I would naturally assume it would mean the entrance to which you would "arrive" at the airport to get on your flight. Really though, when "arriving," are you "arriving at the airport by way of plane" or "arriving at the airport by way of car"? With "departures," does it mean "departing from the airport and driving yourself away from the airport," or "departing from the airport and flying away in a plane"?

Even as I'm writing this, I've now confused myself and can't remember which is which. But as I try to remember, I can't help but relive the panic that I feel nearly every time I'm driving through an airport, surrounded by cars and trying to logically reason out which turn I need to take in the 3 second window I have before I am either rammed or side-swiped by another car OR god forbid I miss the right turn and have to spend a half an hour anxiously navigating through the one sole drag strip that loops around the entire airport before giving you one more chance to make the correct choice, by which time, tormented and crying, you've already forgotten what "arrivals" and "departures" mean yet again.

Why not something simple like, for flying away, they could put a picture of a little airplane tilted up as if taking off. And then for flying in, they have it tilted down like it's landing? I would like to know who came up with the brilliant idea of using "arrivals" and "departures," and then I'd like to propose my much better idea to the International Airport Corporation with him in the room so he can look on as I am praised and carried off on the shoulders of CEO's while he's escorted out by security.
