LIVE FROM POWELL LIBRARY

Feb 07, 2007 22:42

Okay, so this isn't live anymore because lj wasn't working at the time. However, my entry was autosaved and I'm posting it now in its original form, enhanced only with a picture. Enjoy!

So I always come to Powell between classes to make myself do my homework. Usually I go to the back corner of the first room of the second floor reading room, where there are couches and those funny little side tables, curl up, and do my work while intermittently falling asleep. If you go to the library a lot, you sort of end up seeing a lot of some other people who also go to the library a lot, and you begin to recognize them, like the girl who's working through Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy or very thin, tall dood who manages to sleep sitting straight up. Mostly it's faces I'll vaguely recognize through my eyelashes when the ringing of the bells at the hour wakes me up from an unintended nap. Today I was sitting across from a vaguely familiar face, some Asian guy who's always here with his laptop.

So I did my lab report on a CLICC laptop, on which I am now writing to you, dear readers, and then I put it aside and curled up to read Longinus' "On the Sublime." I had just finished reading about the origins of literary impropriety when vaguely familiar laptop dood was suddenly in my face. I thought he was going to ask me to watch his stuff while he went to the potty. People do that a lot. But no, he said, "Will you hold this for me?" and gave me a piece of paper. It actually took me a moment to realize he wanted me to read the piece of paper, that he was not asking me to hold a piece of paper while he peed.

HAHAHA. You know who I thought of first? Well, I won't link her because I'm not sure if she wants traffic, but you know who you are. You should have come here for school, hmm?
