Look before you jump- poem

Look before you jump
I've heard it a million times before
that bellow the cliff there might be rocks
or a sea so deep that you'll never get up
ever again

A cliché I've never bothered to think about
drowning in tears that I've never cried
It's sort of hopeful
and it's sort of sad
maybe just words that never express what they're supposed to do

And I paint that cliff where I hope that I'll some day jump
sharp lines and contrasts that aren't real
close my eyes and make believe
Flying high into the sky
landing on a stormy cloud
but with both feet on the ground
happiness is nice

So look before you jump
behind you someone might witness your downfall
and someone too scared to jump after and save you
will blindly close their eyes

So both feet on ground
I sit down
