My thoughts of inception

Jul 31, 2010 00:16

I saw Inception today, and I absolutely love it. Thoughts bellow cut, because I'm not a bitch and I won't spoil it for unsuspecting people.

I love the idea of Inception, that there were several layers, and they were all dependent on another layer to make it out, as well as surviving in their current layer (dream state). I was at the edge of the seat, unable to tear my eyes away from the screen.

But there were a few things I didn't like, or... I would have liked to see in  the film.

More Ariadne, why she is an architect, how good she is. I wanted to see a real dream of hers, not one where she was talking with Dom. I wanted to get to know her more. That would have created more depth in the characters (or one more character, giving pass for the other characters that aren't at all explored, but too many main characters are just not good). And I wanted to know what the hell they were doing in the beginning in Saito's dream...

But I really liked the complexity (yet it was comprehendible), and how confusing it was. Since it was a dream there were no way of telling how it would go. I liked the projectors in the dream turning on the invador because it was foreign (like the body attacks a virus<- look a bad metaphor! lol). And I liked the characters, as underdeveloped as they were. They won't win Oscars for the roles, but it was still good.

And people are complaining that the third dream state resemblence a James Bond too much -- you have to think of it this way; a guy who pulled up a basooka (right?) in dream state #1 is bound to have watched some James Bond, and is surely influenced by the action in other dream states, and uncocsiously thinks of an iconic action film, and it becomes the dream.

Or did Ariadne create it completely? Because yeah, then it doesn't really make sense. But then again, it's a maze, and it isn't easy to manouvre through snow. lol

As for did it tip?

No. He was standing at the exact same place he left, looking out at children that hadn't aged even a month since he last saw them. From the phone calls you could easily tell that James was at least above 2 years old, if not 3, and that would make Phillipa around 5 years. They were even wearing the same clothes.

... I hope they make a follow up, because I'd like to see them try to find Dom and bring him back, or something, as well as Saito. That would be something, right? Trying to find someone's dream-me. I'd love to see how they would explain that!
