I am leaving this post public because it is very important to me and I want everyone to be able to see this and realize what is going on

I can sympathize with where the campaign comes from in terms of the problem with inhumane hunting methods, but I often wonder why people pick and choose issues like these. Sharks are being ruthlessly killed by tens of millions per year, some to the brink of extinction compared to the present population of harp seals in Canada. But they're not cute and cuddly, so no one gives a damn.
I love animals so anything like this upsets me. I guess people empathize more because seals are more defenseless and they are going after the babies for their white fur. I'm also pretty outspoken about whaling IRL But for the seals, I get a little more irked because they are being hunted mainly for the pelts which isn't like...food. I can understand the way inuit groups kill narwhals (though it still upsets me) because they do alot of it for food, but then they turn around and sell the tusts for thousands of dollars. Any form of mass animal slaughter upsets me, but this just happened to be the one in the headlines.
