Event - Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way

So far, Germinal has been a bit of a downer. It's France's answer to muckraking books like The Jungle, though right now, it's very much like Coal Miner's Daughter. I guess it's all supposed to be about coal mines.

Maybe after I finish that, I can start Anna Karenina. I ought to read something Russian. Besides, due to a rip in the fabric of the Universe, Oprah has chosen it for her Book Club. Usually, Oprah's on the mark when she picks something far(ther) out. I guess I've really only read one Oprah book, The Corrections, and that was a great, sprawling, relevant, family story. I guess any novel about a dysfunctional family is fair game for Oprah, so it was only a matter of time.

As for families close at hand, there is a new record: dinner at 10 PM.
