House and Home

I've always had the nagging suspicion that I really didn't live in my hometown, since my house is outside the city limits. Even if I've spent five weeks in a dorm room that was supposedly in an enclosed education bubble, I think I'm closer than ever to truly becoming a towny.

Though I'm going home, I still have to contend with a trip to New York within twenty-four hours of returning. However, I have proposed to visits Williams, which is only twenty minutes from my aunt's house. For some reason, I had assumed that the school was much further east than it really is. I will give it a good look, since it is number one in many Liberal Arts rankings this year (and has a strong language departments).

My first Prom' was probably fun. I think I enjoyed pinning together a "corsage" using the college landscaping more than I did dancing. My magnolia, yellow marigold, and purple liriope pin was a big hit, though it started wilting so quickly that my date took it back to her room before we went down to the Warehouse.

I submitted to the requisite photo-posing and was about to go to the main event when the GSP/locals showed up again. After all, it was "David"'s birthday. He briefly accepted a cigarette, but handed it back to the local after the obligatory legal age puff.

We watched The Hunt for Red October in our final Russian class. I had never seen it before, but was able to enjoy the action and intricate plot, while realizing how bad the Russian accents were.

Everyone here has turned nostalgic. I have passed around my "mug book", posed with friends, and this afternoon, took a "reality shot" of my messy room.
