My IMG-CAKE application

About
1. Name/Location: Victoria - Newton, NJ
2. What kind of camera(s) do you use? Canon 20D & an old Pentax Spotmatic.
3. Tell us about yourself I'm sixteen, turning 17 on March 17th. I have been
in community college since I turned 15, and am currently pursuing a degree in
photography, however, I may end up going after a pre-med degree later on.
4. Favourite photographer/artist: Sorry, but they're so many and I can't
choose; Steve McCurry, Elias Tahan, John Renard, Diane Arbus, Eugene Richards,
Stephen Shames, Patrick Hoelck, Eugenio Recuenco & last but not least Andreas H.
Bitesnich.
5. Do you like film or digital better? Why? I love both, and they each have
their own place in the world, or at least in mine anyhow. I have spent 10 hours in a
darkroom easily, and I love the outcome of my prints. I enjoy developing the film,
and watching the image appear on the photographic paper when it hits the developer.
I also like film because it's tangible, whereas digital is intangible... although
this is debatable. But I love the ease of my 20d and have been using photoshop since
I'm a little girl.
6. What is your opinion on photoshop? I think it is an excellent tool for
both photography, graphic designs etc. I don't think I go a day without using it,
however it has multiple purposes for me. If you know how to use it properly, and not
overuse it, then thumbs up.

Criticism
We're testing your ability to give good, constructive criticism, so criticize
this (photo changes bi-weekly) using one of the recommended voting forms:

Eugenio Recuenco

Overall impression: One of my favorite photographs, and favorite series. You get the obvious feel of little red riding hood but with a much more lovlier, mature feeling. It's gorgeous in all its fairytale glory. I've never stopped loving this photo, or the photographer.
Compositional skills: His lighting technique is bright, but not overexposed. The highlights and reflections are perfect, everything is focused and extremely sharp, which may be the images only downfall.
Ability at choosing interesting/meaningful subjects: While it seems a lot of photographers are doing the fairytale theme, Eugenio just out does everybody. It has a meaning lying there that you can't grasp, unlike most fashion shots which are what I like to call "dead fashion" and have no meaning besides a pretty drugged up looking face and an expensive oversized hangbag. Here, while there is no product, could be anything and it would make a lovely, elegant and gorgeous advertisement.
Other (i.e. cropping, colours, choice of photographs, etc.): Her placid icy face, the cool colors of the room, the neutral tones of the wolves are all part of the antiquity of the photo, including the regal red robe. It's a luxurious contrast; royal and calming. However, the cropping to me seems to be awkward, and I was never fond of it.
Things to improve on: Resist over sharpening. The wolves seem copy and pasted onto the image, rather than actually in it.
Things I liked: Everything. Her evil, cold glare. The fairytale. The scenery. The colors. The lighting!!! Just the way the dress falls, and the highlights on the robe. The detail on the doors, and walls. And even the reflection in the mirror, which doesn't seem to quite match her real positioning.
