I'm fairly sure the elves are even bigger fail than the Gondorians. Srsly, you'd have thought with how long their civilization's been around, they would have invented machine guns or something.

It would have made the war with Sauron much shorter, however.

Perhaps that's the real reason Gondolin fell! They had 'tanks' there, after all.
