Hyoyeon lives in the outskirt of Seoul in the dense neighborhood. He can’t reach the front of her house by car because the street is too narrow for his mama’s black Honda CR-V, so he walks up from the main street.

The neighborhood is located at some hill hence the topography is sloppy. The streets are narrow and had a lot of stair so most of them can’t be reached by car. The houses stand in levels, lined up to the endless top. At night, the lights are on, making beautiful scenery as Hyukjae makes steps up a set of a stair. Fortunately, Hyukjae doesn’t have walk too far inside the maze to reach his destination.

Hyoyeon’s brother is a carpenter that known in the neighborhood. His workshop is somewhere in the feet of the hill. He had a beat up pick up that barely fit in the street. It’s peeked from their garage a bit as the space is limited.

Hyukjae reaches the front door of their house and hit the bell and immediately welcomed by a burly man that grunts at his sight, “Hyukjae,” He says, gesturing the said man to follow him in.

That wasn’t the Kangin he knew. Kangin usually cheery and exuberate on almost anything, kind, polite and noisy. Well, his attitude might be had something to do with Hyukjae who is about take his sister out for a date.

“Hyung,” Hyukjae tries to smile. Kangin is practically Hyoyeon’s father after their real one died in a car accident along with their mom. So, Hyukjae feels intimidated especially since Kangin barely tears his stare on Hyukjae. Hyukjae tries not fidgeting on his spot which is proved not the easiest thing to do now.

“She’s almost ready,” Kangin informs, gesturing Hyukjae to sit as he takes a seat across the coffee table. Hyukjae just nods in return. “Where you gonna take here, again?”

“Just dinner and a movie, hyung,”

Kangin nods shortly, “Her curfew is eleven pm,” he says, “sharp.”

Hyukjae is about to says reassuring words as Hyo runs down the stair and says, “Since when I have curfew?”

“Since now,” Kangin says sternly.

Hyoyeon just rolls her eyes, “Whatever. Let’s go Oppa!”

Hyukjae just manage to throw a smile to the older man before Hyoyeon drags him out.

“Eleven. Sharp!” Kangin reminds.

“I’m going home when ever I what Oppa!” Hyoyeon shouts back, pushing Hyukjae to hurriedly leave her house.

“I’M TALKING TO YOUR BOYFRIEND!” He shouts back, even if they already hundred feet away, not minding if their neighbor peeking out from their window to look at the commotion.

Somehow, its unnerving Hyukjae to hear people is always assuming him as the boyfriend of whoever he dated.

“Urgh, I’m so sorry. Sometime he thought he’s Dad,” she says conventionally, the way she always did when she talk about her parents. Maybe to ease the pain, Hyukjae doesn’t know. Thanks God he doesn’t, he likes had both of his alive.

He doesn’t say anything about that though. Because he doesn’t know her that much to comment on their sibling love. So they walk to his mama’s car in silent. Hyukjae doesn’t feel awkward around her, maybe more to the fact that he’s been know her since child. And because he’s such a gentleman, he had to break the silent by initiate casual conversation.

She’s wearing a pastel button up shirt and worn-out jeans. She looks fine and doesn’t look like she’s trying too much. Most of his dates were always wearing something fancy to impress him, which quite worked if they wore mini skirt actually. But he likes how Hyo dressed her self.

As much as he knows about her is that she had similar attitude with her brother: snarky, confident but kind-hearted. She’s studious and ambitious but also a loyal friend. He feels like they will fit just fine with each other.

Half way to the night, turns out that she is also funny and smart. Hyukjae glad that she doesn’t seems to hold her attitude and so he doesn’t have to be the only one who works on the awkward silent. As the night come to an end, they make great friends.

Honestly, Hyukjae thought that Hyo will ask him out about the relationship thingy but she doesn’t say anything when they say their good nights on her front door. And so Hyukjae doesn’t say anything either.

Maybe she wants to let him think first or taking things slowly. Either, Hyukjae doesn’t have to deal with it now. He’s grateful enough.

Maybe he should ask her out next time. Well yeah, its sounds like an idea.

Saturday morning means hangover for Donghae. Or at least when his folks aren’t home.

He’s way had too much to think about without his father’s wife acting mom with him. She seems like she always found something about him to take care of. Like, who care about homework and home made cookies anyway?

He knows that what she did isn’t an attempt on sizing a good amount of their fortune but based on pure care. At least he knows that much. But still. Having a new mom half of your descendent mom’s age is disturbing.

“Donghae, had you had your breakfast?” he hears her asking when he hurriedly passing by the kitchen’s doorway to the front door. He doesn’t answer.

Donghae tries to tie his shoe as fast as he can. He can hear her steps echoes in the empty corridor, approaching him.

“Where are you going?” she asks again but Donghae just as a stubborn brat he is, keep his silent.

She squints beside him in the floor to the front door and closes their distance before repeat her question, “Where are you going?”

Donghae sighs. He knows he’s kinda mean to her. But her patience sometimes got on his nerve and softens his attitude some other times. This situation right now is case number 2. So Donghae turns to looks at her, not quite in the eyes, “I’m going out,”

She smiles softly to know she wins the battle. It took more than patience and a few good years to tamed Donghae, “Yes, but where?”

“Not your business,” he mumbles, tightens his shoe lace and gets up on his feet.

“Will you home for dinner?” She asks again, doesn’t push on her previous question because she know damn well how far she can pushes on Donghae’s patience.

“No, of course no,” Donghae says as if it the most ridiculous thing ever. “It’s Saturday for heaven’s sake,”

She seems disappointed, even if she always gets the same answer to the same question, “Alright. At least you had to come home today,”

Donghae groans. He’s not a kid anymore. Please don’t say that he had to obey his curfew!

“And come home before your curfew, ‘kay?” She smiles softly knowing that it will finally snap Donghae.

Donghae doesn’t say anything but stalks off and bang closed the front door to emphasis how upset he is. He goes hurriedly to his modified maroon-black Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X that he got after whining to his father for a week, starts the engine leave his drive way just as rudely, roaring the sport’s car heavy engine.

He drives his baby car in speed limit. He really wants to avoid getting caught at speeding again. But he still appreciating his car that humming as he drives her out of the town to Heechul’s family holiday house.

Heechul is held parties through out the week end. He’s making sure to use his parent’s money for good. Sometimes he is envy him because of that. Despite growing up in luxury, Donghae’s father is greedy about money, Donghae had to whines, throwing tantrum or whatever it takes to make his father spend some money on him.

Heechul usually throw awesome parties. And it’s only attended strictly to selected people: close friends, some fellas with good amount of fortune, some fellas that he can take a benefit from, some fellas that are willing to lick his booth to get in the circle and some fellas that are cool enough to match him.

There’re a lot of cars in crayon shades of colors lined up in the driver way and he had to pull his behind a yellow Mitsubishi Eclipse and a lime-green Hyundai Genesis Coupe, blocking the cars off because there’re not much space left. The owners won’t need the car anytime soon anyway.

He gets off of his car and smoothen his shirt first before heading to the front door. Loud music can be heard from behind the door even if the house had fabulous sound proof installed. One more thing about Heechul party is, he doesn’t need to wait for the sun to set before blasting off his amplifier.

Donghae pushes on the bell and wait. But instead of welcomed by Heechul or his sister, Jessica, he welcomed by Hyoyeon. A girl from school who he doesn’t know that much about except for the fact that she’s off limit due to the awesome control her brother had on his mullet and the fact that she’s one of Jessica’s best friends.

She seems brighter than Donghae usually saw her. And she only raises an eyebrow when she sees Donghae.

It’s not like he had to ask for her permission to enter Heechul’s family’s property but she always shows how much she despise his closeness with her friend, Jessica even if both Heechul and Jessica ain’t seems mind at all. Might be she just being jealous of Jessica? He doesn’t know.

Or maybe not. He pretty sure her feeling toward him is closer to hate rather than jealousy.

“Well, are you going to let me in?” Donghae asks after some time and she doesn’t seem like invite him in.

“Not my house, not my party,” she says nonchalantly then goes off the stair to second floor that strictly limited for private, “and close the door, will you?”

Right. Even if she’s hot and cool, she will never Donghae’s type of girl. Not in million times with that attitude.

“Oppa!” a cheery voice draw his attention back. Jessica is a short skirt and tight Nike V-neck t-shirt that shows a good portion if her breast. He smiles instantly at the sight. She always trying too hard to get his attention, but he doesn’t really mind.

Donghae leans toward her and she gives him a peck on the cheek.

“You okay?” she asks as Donghae a little bit off, still thinking about Hyoyeon.

“Yeah… I just haven’t used to your friend…” Donghae admits. This is not the first time anyway. Jessica know how uncomfortable Donghae around Hyoyeon, but she never really do anything about it.

“Hyo?” her eyebrow quirks, “Did she do something to you?”

“No, actually no. She seems in good mood,” Donghae pouts, even if he wants to bad talking Hyoyeon, he figures being truthful always the best option.

“Well, yeah, she was out in a dated with her crush yesterday,” Jessica grins, as if she’s telling the hottest secret to Donghae.

“Her crush?” What on earth her type of men, Donghae wonder. A moment ago he doesn’t even think there’s someone who can bear her. “Who?”

“Lee Hyukjae,”

Of fucking course. Who else it would be if not Lee-almighty-Hyukjae?

Ime's Note: I know... I know... still no eunhae and strong smelly ugly Hyukyeon and Haesica? you might be hate it now, but this is eccential for the foundation of the story. you know... built it perfect before it straggle in front of them? oh shoot, i should shut the fudge up... Thanks for reading chu~ ♥
