Writing Challenge - Week 3: Create a world/person based on a genre of music
This post is late, late, late. I was supposed to submit in late November/December 2016, but obviously that didn't happen; so here it is.
For this week's challenge, I tried to 'create a world' based on the alternative rock, which emerged from the underground. I think the world I wrote about is a world that I wish to live in, where nobody will be threatened into silence.
I tried my hand at a villanelle, but I'm no poet -
Do not be threatened into silence
Strong we'll stand, and proudly we'll sing
Rise from beneath to show our brilliance
The ignorant calls our music "a nuisance"
But they don't know a thing, so
Do not be threatened into silence
Sing unabashedly, despite their annoyance
The time is up for the aging and ailing
Rise from beneath to show our brilliance
Look at this turnout, this attendance
Banging, barging, demanding
Do not be threatened into silence
We need not wait for their acceptance
For our right to play; in case anyone was wondering
Rise from beneath to show our brilliance
We're gonna play till we change the ambience
Speakers blaring; audience chanting
Do not be threatened into silence
Rise from beneath to show our brilliance
I hope this is a better attempt than my previous one
I was very tempted to write about the 女人国 world that we came up with, on a whim, years ago in poly haha
