Andros waited nervously outside Commander Kin-Won’s office. He was trying not to feel nervous about this meeting but since he hadn’t been told why the Karovan leader wanted to see him, many worst case scenarios were playing through his mind.
The door to Commander Kin-Won’s office opened and Taikwa stepped out, “Commander Kin-Won is ready to see you Andros,” she gave a warm smile as she motioned to the door.
Andros managed to give a small smile in response, he took a deep breath and entered the office. He closed the door behind him and stood to attention.
Commander Kin-Won looked up from his paper work, “Andros, please take a seat,” he motioned to the empty chair in front of his desk. Andros nodded and sat down, waiting anxiously to learn what the purpose of this meeting was for.
He didn’t have to wait long.
“I suppose you’re wondering why I called you here,” Commander Kin-Won said, Andros merely nodded, “Andros what do you know about Earth?”
Andros was startled, “uh, not very much sir,” he hadn’t been expecting that sort of question.
“I asked this question because that is partly to do with why I called you here,” Commander Kin-Won explained.
“I don’t understand sir,”
“I have decided that it’s time to broaden your training,” Commander Kin-Won said.
“Broaden my training?” Andros questioned, “what does that have to do with…” his voice trailed off as he realized what that meant, “you’re sending me to Earth?”
“For school,” Commander Kin-Won nodded, “Fandom High,”
“I can’t go to school on Earth!” Andros protested, then he winced at the way that it sounded, “I mean…” he lowered his voice, “I have duties here, I can’t abandon them,”
“I am aware of that Andros,” Commander Kin-Won told him, “and you will still be expected to keep up with your training for your future position as the Red Astro Ranger but in sending you to a Terran school you will be able to enhance not only your experiences but your training,”
Andros slumped slightly in his chair, “what school are you sending me to sir?” he said in a resigned tone.
“Fandom High,” the Commander replied, “located in Alexandria, Virginia in a country called the United States. You will be a freshman,”
“Have my parents agreed to this?”
“They have, I told them a few weeks ago about my intention to send you to this school to help your training. They were reluctant in sending you so far away, but they have still given you permission to attend Fandom High,”
Andros didn’t know what to say to that, his parents of all people had given Commander Kin-Won approval…he didn’t have much of a hope of fighting his decision to send him to Earth.
“What about the other rangers?” he finally asked.
“They will remain here,” Commander Kin-Won said gently, “you have nothing to worry about Andros. Of course you will still be expected to return once in a while for team training but other than that your priority will be your studies.”
Another thought came to Andros, “what about Dark Spectre?” he said quietly, “if he knows that I’m away…it could hurt KO-35,”
“We are aware of that possibility but we are as prepared as we’re going to be in the event that an invasion occurs,” Commander Kin-Won replied, “if such an attack happens whilst you are at Fandom, you are to remain there and if the worst happens…don’t go fighting Dark Spectre, stay and finish your education,”
Andros sighed, there wasn’t much that he could do about this now. “When do I leave?”
“New student arrivals is on Friday, you will be there on time,” the Commander informed him. “You may go,” he nodded.
Andros got up and left the office dejectedly. He couldn’t believe that he was being sent to a high school on Earth and it was so soon.
Now he had to say goodbye to his friends and parents. That was going to be hard.
