Day 4...

Sep 24, 2009 19:38

I've now been at the job for 4 days and have a fairly accurate idea of what all it entails...

10 hours a day, 5 days a week of unloading plastic exterior car parts (sides, bumpers, fronts, rears, body side moldings, etc.) from one conveyor belt (the paint line) to another conveyor belt (the shipping/packaging line). If there's a defect in the paint job, I send it to another conveyor belt (rework line). It's not too bad- but with my ingrown toenails and the length of the day, my feet start to kill me come noon.

BUT- it's mindless work so I feel like I can get the mental part of some writing done- I'm in the midst of writing a couple new songs and some story ideas are churning around.

My days are basically

-wake up at 6
-check on the cats (Einstein's sick) :(
-drink an OJ/get dressed/gather my work stuff (apron, badge, gloves, ibuprofen, lunch)
-head off to work by 7 (I start at 7:45)
-work till 5:45
-come home
-check on on the cats
-shower, soak my feet, eat, play online
-head to bed by 10

rinse, lather, repeat.

C's out of town until about next Wednesday. She's helping the site managers vend food at a festival in Pennsylvania. Some other people have moved out to the Hill- there's about 10 of us now, but there's only me, and three others that are here for this week. But I'm not very good company anyway with how sore and tired I am after work.

But this weekend I should be doing some housecleaning and some relaxing.

Money's been tight so we've cut out a lot of our unnecessary spending- no eating out, no movies (we stopped that with Netflix anyway), discount groceries, driving only when we have to.

BUT- since I'm working now, I've decided I want a one fast food meal a week allowance. I'm thinking on Fridays after work :) The rest of the money will go towards bills and debt erasure.

I'm just glad I have a job after not working for 2 years (my last few jobs weren't really much of a job anyway... just a few days a week at the pizza place or the Y).
